    Remote Sensing and GIS Integration

    Course Summary

This course is designed to bridge the gap between satellite image analysis and spatial decision-making by teaching participants how to integrate Remote Sensing (RS) data with Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Participants will gain hands-on experience in importing, processing, and analyzing remote sensing data within a GIS environment to support environmental monitoring, land use planning, and resource management. Using open-source platforms like QGIS, learners will understand how to extract meaningful insights from remotely sensed data and incorporate them into GIS workflows for better spatial analysis and mapping.

    Key Learning Outcomes

    • Understand the value of integrating remote sensing and GIS for spatial analysis
    • Import and georeference remote sensing imagery in GIS software
    • Align and manage coordinate systems between raster and vector data
    • Perform overlay, classification, and raster analysis using satellite data
    • Generate thematic maps combining RS and GIS datasets
    • Apply integration techniques in use cases such as land cover mapping, environmental monitoring, and resource assessment
