Disaster Risk Mapping and Management using Remote Sensing & GIS

    Course Summary

This course provides practical training on using geospatial technologies for disaster risk assessment, mapping, and response planning. Participants will explore how to map hazard zones (e.g., floods, landslides, drought), assess vulnerability and exposure, and support disaster mitigation and response efforts through spatial analysis and satellite imagery.

    Key Learning Outcomes

    • Identify and map hazard-prone areas using satellite data and DEMs
    • Analyze land use, slope, and rainfall data for risk modeling
    • Monitor and assess disaster impact using pre- and post-event imagery
    • Integrate population and infrastructure data for vulnerability mapping
    • Create risk and response maps for decision-making and early warning
